Latest News: Gluten free? Here's some helpful info to help you make the most of your Gourmet Society membership
Just because you're on a restricted diet, doesn't mean you should miss out on Gourmet Society savings! In the spirit of Coeliac Awareness Week, we have gathered some information from our partner restaurants and Coeliac UK to help our gluten-free members make the most of their membership. Here you'll find information about independent restaurants that pride themselves on their gluten-free offering, national chains who cater to specific dietary needs, plus some information on different world cuisines that are best suited to a gluten-free diet.

JD's Grill - Plymouth
Proudly "recycling cows" since 2012 - JD's Grill is one of Plymouth's favourite American-diner style restaurants. Sourcing all their ingredients from the best possible suppliers, then adding a secret mix of herbs, spice and love to create breathtaking dishes, inspired by some of the world's greates BBQ experts. Plus, they have spent a large amount of time researching Coeliac Disease, and have now nearly eradicated gluten from their menu.

Namaaste Kitchen - London
Namaaste Kitchen specialises in modern and healthy Indian cookings that boasts style, ambience and hospitality in authentic Indian and Pakistani grills, prepared in the restaurants spectacular show kitchen in full view of diners. The menu includes a wonderful, extensive choice of modern and traditional curries, biryanis and a delicious range of gluten-free options.

Sonali Bombay - Belfast
Sonali Bombay is a well established Indian restaurant in Belfast. Authentic Indian Cuisine cooked in pleasant surrounding using the finest and freshest ingredients. Plus, all their curries are gluten free, making this an ideal spot for those on a gluten-free diet.

Marinades - Cheltenham
Family owned and run, Marinades Carribbean restaurant uses locally sourced and supplied ingredients wherever possible in an effort to sustain local business. Their menu is 80% gluten-free and they offer an excellent selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, making Marinades something of a local favourite with coeliacs, vegetarians and vegans as well as meat, fish and seafood fans!

Wood Mill - Dunfermline
A relaxed, informal eating area, great for either a quick lunch or a special meal, The Wood Mill Restaurant presents a seasonally changing menu including succulent steaks, fantastic fish, perfect pasta and creative chicken dishes from around the world. As well as this, The Wood Mill places special emphasis on incorporating many gluten free choices in it's menu.

Dough - Manchester
Since opening it's doors five years ago, Dough has been striving to push the boundaries with their creative pizzas. As well as offering a choice of tantalizing topping combinations, Dough offers a range of speciality doughs made and proved on site using our special recipe which include traditional, whole-wheat and gluten-free.

Bella Italia
Bella Italia's latest menu launch has seen an incredible expansion in their gluten free offering. Many of their much-loved pizza and pasta dishes are now available with gluten-free bases and pasta, as well as a selection of their famous grills and homely, authentic Italian dishes.

La Tasca
La Tasca have long since been a favourite for gluten-free diners. Their sociable tapas selection features numerous gluten-free dishes, or you can choose their special "gluten-free selection for two" - which will offer you the kitchens favourite GF dishes! And whilst you're there, be sure not to miss their new gluten-free desserts, of chocolate fondant and lemon & lime and chocolate & toffee tarts.

Burgers can often be difficult when on a gluten-free diet, however the vast majority of handmade burger Co.'s dishes can be ordered gluten-free. In some cases you may need to let the restaurant know before you arrive - so just make sure you mention that you are gluten-free when you call to book!

Italian :
Pasta and pizza may be off the menu (unless the restaurant offers gluten-free pasta or pizza bases), but there are plenty of other options...
Arborio rice, the basis of risotto, creates a creamy, delicious dish and is naturally gluten-free.
Polenta is made from yellow or white cornmeal, a naturally gluten-free grain. Polenta can be served soft, like risotto, or in a stiffer form that can be cut and pan-fried when cooled.
Latin American :
The flavours of Mexico, Brazil and Argentina can offer some interesting options for people looking for gluten-free foods...
Pulses such as pinto and black beans dominate the southern-most cuisines, and are gluten-free. They are often served in a creamy style alongside meat dishes with rice.
Corn based soft tortillas and tortilla chips are the foundation of many Central and South American diets.
Rice also features in these cuisines – everything from paella to pilaf-style side dishes.
Thai :
Fresh spices and herbs typify the cuisine of Thailand. Curries, soups and salads have exciting combinations of sweet, salty and spicy flavours, and many are made from naturally gluten-free ingredients...
Rice and rice noodles are staple products.
Whereas Chinese spring roll wrappers usually contain wheat flour, Thai wrappers are usually made with rice powder mixed with tapioca flour.
Fish sauce doesn’t contain gluten.
Sauces are often thickened with coconut milk.
Middle Eastern : Even though couscous and filo pastry are not suitable for people on a gluten-free diet, there are many other options if you like the lemony, herbal flavours of Lebanon, Greece and Turkey...
Chickpeas and broad beans (also known as fava) are high in protein and carbohydrates. They are used in dips such as hummus and salads, and are naturally gluten-free.
Falafel are spiced, fried balls of chickpeas and an alternative to meats for vegetarians on a gluten-free diet.
