Milton Keynes boasts a large number of curry houses but Café Balti stands out from the crowd as one of the city's best. Located close to Milton Keynes’ historical museum as well as the large and beautiful Ouse Valley Park, this cosy restaurant is a great place to stop after a day out and about. A local favourite, Café Balti has been serving well-presented morsels of Indian cuisine for well over ten years. Its new owners, who arrived in the last year, have taken its menu, service and food to even greater levels.
A warm and cosy venue, Café Balti's wooden flooring and colourful place mats give it a chirpy, clean and modern feel. Keen to give diners an authentic taste of India's finest cooking, Café Balti use no artificial colouring or flavouring in any of their dishes. The results are really tangible. From Indian classics like rogan josh and chicken tikka to the chef's specials, including the exceptional tandoori trout, the quality of the food here is excellent. There is a pleasingly good selection of vegetable, tandoori and balti dishes and the sides, including a selection of breads, cooked fresh in Café Balti's tandoor oven, are some of the finest the city of Milton Keynes had to offer. A range of continental dishes like chips and scampi mean that, even if diners can’t stomach spice, they can leave with a full stomach.
Many of the local patrons are on friendly terms with the front of house team who are on hand to welcome them to their favourite tables and explain any of the dishes on the menu. Even new customers will most likely feel like old friends by the end of their meal. With a good range of beers, lagers and wines on offer, Café Balti is a great location for a family diner or evening out.
