Inspired after a trip to his homeland in 2016 and the Hindi word for a roadside food stall, owner Amir wanted to bring back the dishes that have fuelled workers for generations across the subcontinent to London and shaped his roots. From Keralan fish curry to traditional thali, Amir aims to give his diners an exciting adventure into street food with Dhaba.
The stylish eatery may look unassuming to some, but its deliberate design means that the focus is right on each of Dhaba’s vibrant dishes. Plywood-panelled walls and minimal lighting add a rustic meets industrial vibe. Diners will also notice candid photos of street scenes which offer a taste of the dishes to come and add an authentic feel.
Dhaba is a vibrant alternative to the heavy curries that can typically be found in many Indian restaurants in the UK. Their menu showcases regional street food specialities such as Mumbai spicy chicken egg rolls, railway lamb curry and Alleppey fish curry, a south Indian favourite. And to make it a proper meal, diners can savour every grain and drop of curry with their tandoori paratha, roti and chapatti.
Diners looking for an exciting new dimension of Indian cuisine will find no better destination than Dhaba. Gourmet Society members will find this experience even more enjoyable when they get exclusive savings off their bills for calling to book ahead and presenting their cards upon arrival. It’s the perfect excuse for pistachio kulfi, an order of masala chicken wings or extra garlic naan.
