The Polash Restaurant in Shoeburyness is renowned for its fine Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine. This family-run restaurant is named after a beautiful Bangladeshi flower.
Established in 1979, the restaurant has been serving exotic cuisine to the people of Shoeburyness and beyond for over 35 years. An extensive menu of starters, sundries, main dishes and desserts boasts such meals as chicken tikka biryani, lamb tikka madras and tandoori king prawn delight.
The restaurant is the creator of the "Polash Meltdown" - a dish of their own invention that's categorically not for the faint hearted. This meal contains birdseye chilli, naga chilli, and the world's hottest chilli, the bhut jolokia. This is a combination of chilli so spicy that combined they measure over one million on the SHU scale (the method used to rate the hotness of chilli). Anyone who tried the chilli, which was available for just a single week, had to sign a disclaimer beforehand.
To complement the rich Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine, The Polash boasts a fine drinks menu, complete with wines, champagnes, beers, spirits and liqueurs, as well as the usual soft drink selection.
In more than three decades in the industry, The Polash, Shoeburyness has won its fair share of awards, including a spot in the British Curry Awards Top 100 UK, a top 30 spot in the Patak Curry Guide, a place in the Essex Eating Out Guide, and many more.
The family-owned restaurant offers a warm and friendly environment and professional service, suitable for the family but also for more lively social occasions amongst friends.
