A pre-dinner glass is an obligatory part of the experience here where you can expect to see the odd sports personality or musician popping in for dinner and a bottle or two of Bollinger.
The food is exquisite, in both flavour and presentation. This is the kind of place where cutting into your meal feels like destroying a work of art. However, after a first mouthful, all compunction will fly out of the window. With seasonal ingredients and locally sourced produce from around Newcastle and the north east, the food is fresh and delicious.
The star of Silk Room Restaurant menu is the Kobe burger, which is as tender and tasty as meat from a beer-fed beast should be. Other delicacies on the menu include kangaroo steak served with port and caramelised pears and a whole lobster served with garlic butter sauce. Various cuts of steak, fish dishes and vegetarian options are also present.
Whilst this is a fine dining restaurant, the staff are very warm and welcoming. They offer a personalised service and are happy to cater for special requirements, whether it's making sure a dish is cooked to dietary requirements or making a birthday celebration extra special.
