Part of a group of ten restaurants, The Coriander in Vauxhall opened in 2004 and has quickly established itself as a south-east London favourite. The benefit of years of experience in Indian cuisine is shown in this restaurant's interesting menu and in every dish that leaves the kitchen.
The menu at The Coriander is well put together and packed full of traditional Indian and Bangladeshi dishes. All dishes are freshly made and expertly seasoned and then garnished with liberal amounts of coriander in authentic fashion. Chef's recommendations include the excellent paneer chilli masala, a beautiful and spicy curry utilising Indian cottage cheese. This and plenty of other options are available for vegetarians. The Coriander has a full bar serving beer, wine and even liqueurs, as well as plenty of cold soft drinks to complement a hot curry.
Inside The Coriander the tables are set with real style suiting the calibre of the dining experience. The room is lit by modernistic wall lights, producing an ambient setting for a romantic meal. A mural of an Indian landscape adds character to the walls and really sets the scene for the food to follow. Waiting staff are trained to a high level and are helpful and attentive. The Coriander is so close to The Oval Cricket Ground you can almost hear the crowd, making this is a great venue for a post-test match meal.
